When it comes to the best bed and breakfasts in the country, more than two dozen establishments in Cape May are at the top of the list, according to a new ranking by U.S. News & World Report.

Released March 25, the 2025 list of 350 bed and breakfasts, inns and small hotels in the U.S. includes the following local spots:

5. The Hugh Boutique B&B
6. Casablanca
7. Buttonwood Boutique Hotel
8. Peter Shields Inn & Restaurant
9. Angel of the Sea
10. The Dormer House
11. The Star Inn
12. Bedford Inn
13. Beauclaires Bed & Breakfast Inn
14. The Mason Cottage Bed & Breakfast Inn
15. Lokal Hotel Cape May
16. Rhythm of the Sea
17. Elaine’s Cape May Boutique Hotel
18. Periwinkle Inn
19. The Queen Victoria
20. Mooring B&B
21. Thomas Webster House
22. Luther Odgen Inn
23. John Wesley Inn
24. The Carroll Villa Hotel
25. Ashley Rose Victorian Inn
26. Highland House

According to U.S. News, the 350 locations are spread across 17 cities and small towns chosen based on “research indicating that staying in B&B accommodations in these destinations would be of particular interest to travelers.”

To develop its compilation, the publication says it evaluates guest reviews and class rating. Any awards and recognitions that a property received from expert travel sources are also considered.

Commenting on the list, senior travel editor Zach Watson said, “Bed-and-breakfasts offer local immersion, providing travelers with the personal connection they often crave. The 2025 Best Bed & Breakfasts rankings celebrate local establishments where hosts are unofficial guides, breakfast conversations reveal hidden gems and top properties play a part in each community’s story.”
