The basics:

Who says there’s no such thing as free lunch?

Customers who drop into a recently remodeled Wendy’s in Old Bridge or a brand-new PrimoHoagies in Pennington this week will have the opportunity to score a year’s worth of food.

Additionally, Just Salad will celebrate its new Woodbridge store by offering two days of discounts on salads, bowls and wraps.

PrimoHoagies

Located at 25 Route 31 in Pennington, the Westville-based sub chain is set to host its grand opening July 16.

As part of the festivities, the first 100 guests in line at 10 a.m. will receive vouchers to redeem 12 primo size hoagies. To be eligible for the offer, individuals must be 18 years old or older and a PrimoHoagies rewards member. Additionally, PrimoHoagies will offer 50% off its primo size hoagies all day long.

Festivities will also include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, prize wheel and entertainment, the franchise said.

PrimoHoagies in Pennington:

The Penn Hoagies LLC-owned and operated site is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for dine-in, pickup and delivery.

Founded in 1992, PrimoHoagies is known for its specialty sandwiches made with high-quality meats, cheeses and fresh-baked rolls. The franchise’s footprint of more than 125 locations nationwide includes 30-plus stores in New Jersey.

It recently ranked as America’s No. 1 sandwich shop in the USA Today readers’ choice awards for a third year in a row.

According to Wendy’s franchisee Flynn Group LP, the first 100 customers in line for the fast-food chain’s July 18 grand reopening event at 10:30 a.m. in Old Bridge will get a card to redeem one free sandwich, salad or breakfast item per week for a year.

The offer is valid only at the Old Bridge outpost and cannot be combined with any other coupons, promotions or discounts. Winners must be 16 or order, Flynn noted.

The 3,352-square-foot drive-thru eatery is located at 2617 Route 516. It now boasts a more modern, contemporary design that includes open, bright dining areas with multiple seating options. The store also has a Coca-Cola Freestyle beverage dispenser, Flynn said.

After reopening June 26 for business, Wendy’s will serve from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.

According to Flynn, it expects the renovated restaurant to add 45 jobs to the local economy. Available positions include crew members, shift leaders, assistant managers and general managers.

Wendy’s in Old Bridge:

Of the 144 Wendy’s locations across New Jersey, Flynn runs about five dozen sites. The franchisee recently completed similar remodels at sites including Jefferson, Absecon, Thorofare, Egg Harbor Township, Somers Point and Manahawkin.

Founded in 1999, San Francisco-headquartered Flynn owns and operates 2,900 consumer-facing businesses. Its portfolio includes brands such as Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar, Arby’s, Taco Bell, Panera Bread, Pizza Hut, Wendy’s and Planet Fitness in the U.S. and Australia.

More to the point (guard)

The launch follows Just Salad’s recent announcement that New York Knicks point guard and New Brunswick native Jalen Brunson took an equity stake in the chain.

Founded in 2006, Just Salad is known for its customizable salads, wraps and warm bowls, as well as its seasonal options and “Earth Friendly” meals featuring salads with low-carbon footprints. Shown is the Tokyo Supergreens Tofu Salad.

As a self-described longtime fan of Just Salad, Brunson said, “When I started thinking about owning equity in a restaurant, I knew I wanted it to be more than just putting my name on something. I wanted to partner with a company whose values matched mine and that was making a real impact in the communities it serves.

“Just Salad checked every box … ” he said.

In addition to working with the brand’s culinary and leadership teams, Brunson will visit Just Salad locations, according to the chain. Just Salad did not specify how many years the long-term collaboration will be but noted that it is the chain’s first athlete partnership and Brunson’s first restaurant in-vestment.

The announcement comes just weeks after Brunson led the Knicks to their first NBA championship in 53 years by defeating the San Antonio Spurs in five games. He also earned NBA Finals MVP honors.
