ADP adds generative AI to payroll and HR app

ADP is incorporating more artificial intelligence technology as a way to provide small business owners with enhanced support for human resources and payroll operations.

In an Aug. 1 press release, the Roseland-based provider of HR and payroll solutions announced several new capabilities within its Roll mobile app that combine generative AI, global workforce data and industry expertise, making the platform an “intuitive advisor for small businesses.”

Now available in the U.S. and expected to launch this fall in Europe, the latest version of the app allows users to seek guidance in a safe and secure manner via an intuitive chat-based conversation on a range of topics, such as conducting new hire interviews, tax filing information, writing job descriptions and making investments.

The app, which has an easy-to-use interface and supports multiple languages, “was built with AI at its core, with the goal of giving small business owners greater agility in managing their people,” said Sreeni Kutam, president of global product and innovation at ADP.

“Integrating new generative AI technology now takes Roll’s capabilities to the next level. It’s an intuitive small business advisor, pulling data from ADP’s extensive global knowledge database, based on real interactions, as well as from the client’s company-specific data. Through a closed large language model environment, Roll makes it even easier for business owners to quickly get tailored, valuable guidance in a safe and secure way,” he said.
