In advance of the holiday season, big-name food retailers are cutting prices to help shoppers deal with higher costs.
Similar to last year, the Batavia, Ill.-based, no-frills, deep-discount chain is once again lowering prices on some of its seasonal favorites.
Starting Nov. 1 and lasting through the end of the year, more than 70 classic items such as light bites and starters to fresh produce and baking essentials will be discounted by as much as 50%.
Dave Rinaldo, president of Aldi U.S., said, “Thanksgiving is all about gratitude and we’re so grateful for our many loyal customers from coast-to-coast. With inflation still looming, we’re providing shoppers extra relief to make the holidays a time for celebration, not stress. What’s served on the Thanksgiving table is just as important as who’s sitting around it, so ALDI is delivering big savings on key items so there’s always room for more guests.”
Aldi has 60 stores in New Jersey.

Amid last year’s inflation, the big box retailer offered a traditional holiday meal at 2021 prices. This year, Walmart will have two holiday meal options available at an even lower cost, one with ingredients for customers who like to cook from scratch and another for those who prefer more ready-to-bake items.
According to Walmart, the basket includes main dishes and sides options from national brands, including turkey for under $1 a pound, ham, stuffing and pumpkin pie. Food can be purchased through the chain’s website or app for pickup or delivery.
“Saving money remains a top priority for our customers, and this holiday season, we’re building on the investments we made last year knowing they need it now more than ever,” John Furner, president and chief executive officer, Walmart U.S., said in a statement. “We’re better positioned than ever before to deliver on our purpose, to help customers save money and live better, especially during the most exciting time of the year. We’re ready to deliver the omni shopping experience we know our customers want and need, it’s going to be a great holiday season at Walmart.”
The markdowns will be in effect between Nov. 1 and Dec. 26, the company said.
Across the Garden State, Walmart has 62 locations.
