Atlantic Health hospitals rank among Healthgrades’ best 50 nationwide

Atlantic Health System serves more than 4.9 million people in 11 of New Jersey’s 21 counties. And two of its seven hospitals hold the distinction of being the only ones from New Jersey on a new ranking of the nation’s best.

Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center made the Healthgrades 2022 America’s Best 50 Hospitals list, placing the Atlantic Health System facilities in the top 1% of nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide.

Healthgrades announced its 2022 rankings on Feb. 8. This year’s list is the first to measure data from the first year of the pandemic, 2018 – 2020.

Morristown Medical Center’s appearance marks its seventh in a row, while Overlook has been listed for three years running.

“To achieve this consistent level of excellence for seven consecutive years reassures our communities that we are completely dedicated and focused on providing the highest quality standards, coordination of care, and the best possible patient outcomes,” said Morristown Medical Center President Trish O’Keefe in a statement.

Added Overlook Medical Center President Stephanie Schwartz: “We know that our team members provide extraordinary, high-quality care to our community, and this distinction exemplifies our dedication to safety and excellence. Certainly, the pandemic presented a myriad of challenges through which we endured and excelled by staying laser-focused on providing the very best care we can give.”

Healthgrades also revealed its America’s 100 Best Hospitals and America’s 250 Best Hospitals rankings on Feb. 8.

While the former did not include any additional representation from the Garden State, three hospitals from New Jersey were listed on the best 250 list: RWJBarnabas Health’s Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, Hackensack Meridian Health’s Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township, and Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
