Maureen Schneider joined Atlantic Health System in 2014, coming on board at Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains as chief nurse and operations officer. Then, in November 2021 she was appointed interim president of the facility when Stephanie Schwartz transitioned to the same role at Overlook Medical Center, another AHS hospital. Now, Schneider is starting a new chapter.
Atlantic Health System announced Schneider as president of Chilton Medical Center on May 5.
“Maureen is leading the Chilton team with the passion and vision she has exemplified since joining Atlantic Health System,” AHS President and CEO Brian Gragnolati said in a prepared statement. “Through her collaborative leadership and dedication to our patients and caregivers, Maureen is ensuring Chilton’s forward momentum while advancing our mission to build healthier communities.”
In an announcement of her appointment, Atlantic Health highlighted Schneider’s ability to maintain her patient-centered focus while leading the location.
“I’m honored and excited to continue my journey at Chilton Medical Center, and as a president, contribute to its ongoing commitment to clinical excellence and extraordinary patient care,” Schneider said. “I look forward to working more broadly with our physicians as well as our clinical and support teams who make Chilton the hospital our community looks to for high quality care.”
Before stepping into the interim position, Schneider was responsible for maintaining clinical, financial and operational responsibilities for the 250-bed hospital’s inpatient and outpatient units in addition to clinical services. Her tenure as chief nurse and operations officer saw numerous clinical care and quality achievements for Chilton, according to AHS, aided by Schneider’s leadership of the site’s nursing teams.
In the thick of the pandemic in 2020, she led Chilton to achieve Magnet Accreditation Recognition for Nursing Excellence, according to AHS, marking the third organization where she’s achieved the honor.
An adjunct professor at Seton Hall University, Schneider instructs doctoral and graduate business students — she received her MBA from Monmouth University. The author, coach and mentor is a recipient of the Governor’s Award for Nursing, a DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award and was nationally named as one of 2022 Becker’s Top 66 CNOs to Know. In 2016, she was recognized as one of NJBIZ’s Top 50 Women in Business.
