Atlantic Health System will join the list of health systems throughout the state and waive copays for federal government workers for the duration of the shutdown in all of its emergency departments and Atlantic Medical Group practices.

“At a time when many families face uncertainty due to the government shutdown, Atlantic Health System is committing additional resources to support the health and financial well-being of our communities,” said Brian Gragnolati, president and CEO of Atlantic Health System, in a statement.

“Realizing we are serving not just patients, but communities, we believe it is important to support overall wellbeing by taking a holistic approach that eases some of the burdens these government workers face during this trying time,” said Nikki Sumpter, senior vice president, chief human resources officer.

Atlantic Health System will host two job fairs on Jan. 24 and Jan. 31, at its corporate headquarters (475 South St. in Morristown) to assist government workers with finding temporary or full-time roles at Atlantic Health System, in areas including clerical, clinical support, food services, and nursing support.

Holy Name Medical Center, Hackensack Meridian Health and RWJBarnabas Health have announced that they will also waive copays for furloughed federal employees.
