RWJBarnabas Health is expanding its presence in North Jersey with the signing of two leases secured by Avison Young.
The commercial real estate services firm with New Jersey offices in Morristown announced Jan. 31 it arranged transactions totaling more than 28,000 square feet in New Providence and Livingston for the West Orange-based health care provider. Covering 26,377 square feet, the space at 630 Central Ave. in New Providence will serve as a training location for regional staff, according to Avison Young. In Livingston, the agreement representing Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center will see RWJBH take up flex space at 315 Northfield Ave.
Principal Roshan Shah, Senior Vice President Steven Geltzeiler and Principal Todd Ohlandt, the latter of the firm’s Atlanta office, represented the tenant in both transactions. In Livingston, Newmark Managing Director Dan Reider represented the landlord, 2100 New Providence LLC.
“Health care remains a top priority for many of us as we return to a more normal way of life, and through these newly leased spaces, RWJBH has the capacity to train and deliver the experienced professionals northern New Jersey communities rely on,” Geltzeiler said in a statement.
Together with the firm’s consulting practice, Avison Young said it is also working on a comprehensive consulting assignment for RWJBH as the provider explores creating greater efficiencies at its larger facilities in the region.
“As the single largest health care provider in New Jersey and among the biggest health systems in the nation, we are incredibly fortunate to have these opportunities to partner with RWJBarnabas Health on evaluating and implementing the organization’s corporate real estate strategy across their vast portfolio,” Shah said.
Last fall, RWJBarnabas Health announced a new executive position, bringing on Stephen Barry as executive vice president of facilities management and real estate development to help guide the system as it navigates the changing physical landscape of where and how care is provided.
“We’re thankful to Avison Young for their deep real estate expertise, including specifically with health care organizations, and for delivering favorable real estate outcomes for RWJBarnabas Health,” Barry said. “Partnering with Roshan, Steve, and Todd at Avison Young has been immensely valuable.”
