President Joe Biden announced this week he intends to nominate Rutgers University board of governors Vice Chair Mark Angelson as the United States ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway.
Angelson has a long and distinguished career that includes working as an international lawyer in Singapore, New York and London; deputy mayor of the City of Chicago; chair of international investment firm MidOceanPartners; CEO of RR Donnelley; and vice chair of the Biden Foundation.
On the Rutgers board of governors, Angelson also served as chair from 2019 until 2022.
In 2022, he was nominated to the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board. The independent advisory board advises on matters pertaining to:
“Mark Angelson has had a distinguished career in law, in business, in education, and as a dedicated public servant,” the White House said in a statement announcing his nomination. “Service as a member of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board is just one of Angelson’s recent roles. Others include serving as Chair of the Institute of International Education, which administers the Fulbright Scholarships and other programs for the Departments of State and Defense; Chair of the Rutgers University Board of Governors; and Member, Council on Foreign Relationship Membership Committee.”
The White House expects Angelson’s formal nomination submission to the United States Senate in the coming days. The Senate is responsible for advice and consent on the nomination.
