The nation’s newest Medal of Honor recipient, Staff Sgt. David Bellavia, and New Jersey real estate developers and leaders Jack Morris and Joe Marino became the newest members of Cento Amici at the organization’s annual dinner Oct. 14 at the Stone House at Stirling Ridge in Warren.
Cento Amici (100 Friends) is a community-based, member organization dedicated to providing need-based scholarship assistance to qualified students in New Jersey. Its mission is to enhance the educational opportunities for those who need it most and who are most under-served by existing need-based programs.
The evening brought together over 150 guests to welcome Cento Amici’s newest members and to thank fellow Medal of Honor recipient and Cento Amici board member Col. Jack Jacobs for his work for the mission and to provide opportunities for future leaders.
“David’s heroism is indicative of the bravery and sacrifice the men and women of our military make every day,” said Jacobs. “I’m thrilled he has agreed to join me in an organization that strives every day to enhance the lives of young students in our state.”
All honorees were humble with their words and expressed how important Cento Amici is to supporting education in New Jersey. The members believe in the program’s significant impact and support it with scholarships, contributions and by giving back to the communities.
Over the past four years, more than 200 New Jersey students have received some sort of scholarship support from Cento Amimi.
