Roseland’s Curtiss-Wright (NYSE: CW) said Monday it has acquired the assets of Ohio’s NOVA Machine Products and Trentec for about $33 million.Curtiss-Wright said it would pay for the transaction with a combination of cash and common stock, adding that NOVA and Trentec will operate as business units of Farmingdale, New York-based Curtiss-Wright Flow Control.Middleburg Heights-based NOVA is a large supplier of safety-related fasteners to the U.S. nuclear power industry and the Department of Energy, and also provides a wide range of manufactured and distributed products and related services. The company currently has 85 employees. Trentec is based in Cincinnati. The company’s businesses include specialty equipment fabrication, diamond wiresaw cutting, nuclear power plant equipment qualification, and third-party dedication and supply of nuclear components. It has approximately 67 employees. The two companies had aggregate sales of $30.6 million in 2003.âÂÂThe acquisition of NOVA and Trentec will provide a significant addition to Curtiss-Wright’s power and government market segments,” Martin R. Benante, Curtiss-Wright’s CEO, said. “Strategically, NOVA and Trentec will extend our penetration into the commercial power generation and DOE market segments.”Curtiss-Wright is a diversified company that designs, manufactures and overhauls products for motion control and flow control applications and provides metal treatment services. The firm employs approximately 4,900 people worldwide.At the close of trading, Curtiss-Wright shares were up $0.86 to $47.46.
