Eataly, a popular Italian-inspired restaurant and grocery concept, is coming to New Jersey.
Reportedly scheduled to open by the end of 2024 in The Mall at Short Hills, the location will be Eataly’s first in the Garden State. However, the brand has a presence in New York City, where it’s launched three outposts since 2010.
A media representative did not immediately respond to a request for more details about when Eataly expects to open its doors in New Jersey. But, construction is underway at The Mall at Short Hills, where Eataly will take over space previously occupied by shuttered Italian eatery Primo Mercado, TapInto reported.
Founded 17 years ago in Turin, Italy, Eataly houses both grocery shops and restaurants offering dine-in services and grab-and-go-options of high-quality yet affordable traditional Italian fare with a local twist.
It currently has 49 locations worldwide, nine of which are in the U.S. All are modeled after the first Eataly, which features various restaurants and cafes, a pasta bar, meat & cheese counters, a pizzeria and gelato shop, along with Italian groceries and household items for purchase.
Eataly is also known for hosting classes, events and special dinners related to Italian cooking and culture.
Over the next five years, Eataly aims to make an even bigger push into North America, opening 20 of its unique food halls, according to Tommaso Brusò, CEO of Eataly North America.
“We are actively pursuing several initiatives throughout the territory, from increasing the floor space of our flagship store in the Flatiron district to actively seeking new locations in Manhattan and throughout the United States and Canada,” he said. “Eataly embodies in its DNA the authentic Italian culinary culture and lifestyle and our goal is to continue building our love story with the North America community.”
