In the latest NJBIZ data compilation, 25 accounting firms that maintain operations in New Jersey appear ranked by the number of CPAs located in state. Ernst & Young LLP placed first with 689 CPAs in New Jersey, operating offices in Iselin, Secaucus, Edison and Hoboken. The firm was established in 1890.

Deloitte LLP follows with 466 CPAs, working from locations in Morristown, Princeton and Jersey City. KPMG LLP employs 293 CPAs and has its New Jersey base in Short Hills, for now.

Founded in 1974, Withum operates five offices across the state and employs 288 CPAs. Rounding out the top five, EisnerAmper maintains 215 CPAs in four locations, including Iselin, Princeton, Mount Laurel and Woodcliff Lake.

The top 25 firms on the list employ anywhere from 689 to 35 CPAs in New Jersey. They were established between 1890 and 1983, representing decades of operations in the accounting sector.

Two firms completed acquisitions in 2024. CBIZ acquired Marcum LLP, closing the transaction Nov. 1, 2024. Forvis acquired the U.S. unit of Mazars June 1, 2024, creating a $5 billion operation.
