To find which companies are doing right by their workers, Forbes once again released its annual lists of America’s Best Midsize Employers and America’s Best Large Employers.
The publication partnered with market research firm Statista for the 10th anniversary of the rankings, released Feb. 12.
To determine the findings, Forbes and Statista surveyed more than 217,000 employees working at U.S. companies that employ more than 1,000 people. The responses were analyzed with survey data from the past three years to account for organizations “that may have had just one good year,” with the more recent data weighted more heavily.
Participants were asked:
In total, 498 companies landed on the best midsize employers list (1,000 to 5,000 employees), and 701 firms made the best large employers ranking (more than 5,000 employees).
In the Garden State, 10 companies were named to the midsize rankings and 21 to the large category.
Forbes also unveiled the America’s Best Employer Icons – the 77 companies that made the lists all 10 years. The New Jersey Icons are:
Forbes included Dun & Bradstreet among medium-size New Jersey-based companies, but the firm moved its headquarters from Short Hills to Jacksonville, Fla., in 2021. The publication also listed Chanel in its large employers list for New Jersey, but that company is based in London, according to a more in-depth profile on Forbes. Chanel did not immediately respond to a question regarding whether it still had a U.S. headquarters.
Cooper Health released a statement noting its inclusion on the Forbes list for the past four years.
“Being named one of Forbes’ top 200 employers in the U.S. for 2025 is an extraordinary honor and a testament to the dedication and excellence of our Cooper team members,” said George Norcross III, chairman of the board of trustees of Cooper University Health Care. “Their passion for delivering compassionate care and advancing health care innovation is what drives us forward and keeps us at the forefront of the industry.”
NJ Transit also announced its placement on the large employers list for the second consecutive year.
“Our customers are at the center of everything we do, and delivering safe and reliable service starts with fostering a culture of excellence among our employees,” said newly appointed NJ Transit President and CEO Kris Kolluri. “This recognition from Forbes reinforces our commitment to investing in our workforce, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to provide the best possible service to our customers.”
