Swedish furniture brand Ikea will reportedly introduce its newest store concept in South Jersey.
The “Plant and Order point” format store allows customers to receive one-on-one design consultations, pick up online purchases and order products, an ABC news affiliate reported. The spot is slated to open this summer at Ellisburg Shopping Center in Cherry Hill.
Additional details on the launch were not immediately available from Ikea or property owner Federal Realty Investment Trust.
Ikea’s flagship stores range from 215,000 square feet to more than 500,000 square feet. In comparison, the Plan and Order point locations run anywhere between 1,100 square feet to 8,600 square feet.
The Plan and Order point stores also differ from traditional Ikea outposts in that there’s no stock onsite, and shoppers are unable to take items home the same day. However, employees can arrange for delivery or schedule order pick ups from the Plan and Order point store at no cost.
Since unveiling the format in 2023, Ikea has rolled it out to several U.S. locations as part of a larger expansion strategy, including California, Texas and Maryland.

Overall, the retailer has committed more than $2.2 billon over the next three years to enhance omnichannel operations across the country.
Although South Jersey doesn’t have a traditional Ikea location, Cherry Hill Mall hosts a pop-up shopping experience from the chain.
Located on the first floor of the mall, the kiosk focuses on kitchen design and allows customers to work with Ikea’s experts to plan the space of their dreams. Operated by an Ikea franchise in Philadelphia, Pa., the location also lets shoppers purchase products directly.
