After achieving nearly a decade of sobriety, “” star Mike “” Sorrentino is launching a treatment center for and support.

Set to open early next year in New Jersey, The Archangel Centers will provide comprehensive care for adolescents and adults struggling with substance abuse, mental health issues and concurrent disorders, according to a Sept. 16 press release.

Founded in partnership with Ascend Behavioral Health Network, the facility aims to transform addiction and mental health treatment through high-quality, accessible and compassionate care. A spokesperson for the project declined to comment where The Archangel Centers will debut in New Jersey, saying that leases are not yet finalized.

After launching its first facility, the brand plans to expand to additional locations.

Close collaborators

Inspired by Sorrentino’s personal journey from addiction to long-term recovery, The Archangel Centers seeks to combine his passion for helping others with Ascend Behavioral Health Network‘s clinical expertise.

According to the press release, it will offer comprehensive, evidence-based treatment plans that address each person’s unique needs. That includes detox, therapy, group support and aftercare.

Sorrentino has been open about his past addiction and recovery.

In December 2023, he published his memoir, “Reality Check: Making the Best of the Situation – How I Overcame Addiction, Loss and Prison.” The book reflected on his triumph over adversity and commitment to a positive lifestyle.

For Sorrentino, launching The Archangel Centers marks the culmination of his personal recovery journey and professional aspirations. He’s launching the joint venture with his wife, Lauren, who has supported him through his recovery, the press release said.

‘Comeback is greater than the setback’

In a Sept. 16 social media post unveiling his plans to open a treatment center, the 42-year-old Manalapan native wrote, “If you had told me 10 years ago that the U.S. government would send me to prison, strip me of my passport and voting rights, and hit me with millions in penalties, I would’ve thought it was game over. But here I am—living proof that the comeback is always greater than the setback.”

“Against all odds, I turned my life around. Today, I’m happily married with three amazing kids, a published author, nine years sober, and about to launch my own treatment centers … What once seemed impossible is now my reality,” he said.

“I put in the work, never gave up, and now my story is someone else’s roadmap to survival,” Sorrentino wrote. “Today, I’m on the front lines, ready to save lives. My experience, strength, and hope will help addicts find recovery, one day at a time.”

He went on to say he’s proud to launch the very first location, “This journey is personal. I am Saint Michael the Archangel, and this comeback? It’s just getting started.”

Industry leadership

The Archangel Centers’ leadership includes the managing partners of Ascend Behavioral Health Network, CEO Samantha Hewett and Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Joseph Milisitz.

Based in Phoenix, parent company Ascend Behavioral Health Network owns and operates behavioral health facilities. It has four locations nationwide with two more opening in 2025, boasting a management team of more than 15 professionals. The group provides leadership and comprehensive support in admissions, operations, management, billing and quality assurance.

Ian Tracy and Mike Smilo will join The Archangel Centers’ leadership team as partners.

Investment firm The Smilo Group focuses on lifestyle, music and entertainment, medical and aesthetics, and food & beverage. As founder, Smilo’s ability to develop and scale businesses will help drive The Archangel Centers’ mission forward, the release said.
