LeGrand Coffee House is celebrating one year since its doors opened with an anniversary party at its brick-and-mortar location at 10 Green St. in Woodbridge.
After a postponement from its original date, the coffee house tweeted May 15 the new time would be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 20. The celebration will be complete with food and drink specials, as well as a DJ spinning live music.
NJBIZ has chronicled the business journey of Rutgers legend Eric LeGrand, starting his coffee brand with an online store in 2021 before opening LeGrand Coffee House in his native Woodbridge last May. That “LeGrand Opening” ceremony featured a number of notable guests, including Gov. Phil Murphy, Rutgers Football Head Coach Greg Schiano, Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac and others.
The debut of the brick-and-mortar shop in Woodbridge was a long process for LeGrand, taking place during the middle of an unprecedented global pandemic, which once again showed his notorious resilience and perseverance.
“I cannot believe it has already been one year since we opened our doors at LeGrand Coffee House,” said the entrepreneur. “To see the amount of support over the past year has been incredible. I am so thankful to my staff and everybody who is part of our LCH family.”
And LeGrand – of course – has not stopped there.
Since opening the coffee shop, he has experienced tremendous growth and exposure, including being selected by the New Jersey Devils and Prudential Financial as their 2022-23 Buy Black Program winner. That partnership has included a number of exciting opportunities, such as the LeGrand Coffee House logo being featured throughout Prudential Center during Devils home games and on the team’s helmets during road games.
Perhaps not coincidentally, this past season the Devils experienced their most successful regular season in franchise history, winning 52 games — the same number LeGrand donned at Rutgers. He has been a front-and-center supporter of the team as they continue their playoff run against the Carolina Hurricanes, following a first-round series win over the rival New York Rangers.
In recent months, LeGrand also launched a new liquor brand – Eric LeGrand Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, which NJBIZ has also reported on – as well as his “A Cup of bELieve Podcast.” In a nod to his former No. 52, $5.20 of each case sold of the bourbon will go to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation to help find a cure for paralysis. LeGrand is a longtime supporter and partner on that initiative.
As the 32-year-old marks his first year as the owner of a brick-and-mortar business here in the Garden State, he is certainly not slowing down, continuing to move forward with this entrepreneurial chapter of his life.
“I hope to see everyone this Saturday at the shop, and I cannot wait to find out what the next year has in store,” LeGrand said.
