LG Electronics USA, headquartered in Englewood Cliffs, is investing more than $20 million to expand its Clarksville, Tenn. washing machine factory to help meet high U.S. demand.
The $20.5 million investment will support the addition of another manufacturing shift, bringing 334 jobs to the town. LG established its first U.S. washing machine manufacturing operations in Clarksville four years ago, and according to the company, such operations have increased the company’s competitiveness in the U.S. by increasing speed to market and responsiveness to changing market conditions.
“American consumers love LG washers from Tennessee, as seen by the double-digit percentage growth in sales over the past year. The production expansion in Clarksville will help us meet the unprecedented demand for our top-rated washing machines across the country,” said LG Electronics North America President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas Yoon in a prepared statement.
The Clarksville factory was completed for $360 million in 2018 and as of August 2020 produced more than 1 million machines.
Hiring to support LG Clarksville operations expansion is under way.
