William Paterson University in Wayne leads New Jersey institutions with 291 MBA degrees awarded in 2024, according to the NJBIZ list of the state’s top programs.

Rutgers University-Newark follows in second place with 263 MBA degrees. Dean Lei Lei heads the Rutgers Business School.

Montclair State University ranks third with 237 MBA degrees. Kimberly Hollister is dean of the university’s Feliciano School of Business. Stevens Institute of Technology and Rutgers University-Camden round out the top five with 144 and 132 MBA degrees, respectively.

The list includes 18 institutions across New Jersey. Rider University occupies the final position with 17 MBA degrees. President Gregory Dell’Omo announced his retirement from Rider, effective July 31, 2025.

The schools are ranked by total number of MBA degrees awarded in 2024.

Several institutions experienced leadership transitions in 2024. Saint Peter’s University welcomed Hubert Benitez as president July 1. Rowan University appointed Matthew Sarkees as dean Aug. 19. Monsignor Joseph Reilly became president of Seton Hall University July 1.

Two institutions — Monmouth University and Stockton University — tied for 10th place with 65 MBA degrees each. Fairleigh Dickinson University appears twice on the list, with both its Florham and Metropolitan campuses ranking separately.

The 18 institutions represent diversity in establishment dates, from Centenary University (1867) to Stockton University (1969).
