Rutgers University-Newark awarded 223 accounting degrees in 2024, the most among New Jersey schools.
The institution granted 116 bachelor’s and 107 master’s degrees.
Montclair State University ranked second on the 2025 NJBIZ Accounting Degree Programs list, with 149 accounting degrees awarded. The school, established in 1908, operates under President Jonathan Koppell and Dean Kimberly Hollister.
Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus ranks third with 120 degrees, though most (111) were master’s degrees. Michael Avaltroni leads as president with James Almeida serving as dean.
Rutgers University’s two other campuses also made the list. Rutgers-New Brunswick came in at No. 4 (108 degrees); Rutgers-Camden at position 11 (43 degrees).
Rowan University awarded 98 bachelor’s degrees in accounting, good for No. 5 on the list. Matthew Sarkees was appointed as dean in August 2024, replacing interim Dean Morris Kalliny.
Filling out the top 10 were Rider University (89 total; 41 bachelor’s; 48 master’s); Seton Hall University (89/37/52); Ramapo College (86/59/27); William Paterson University (55, all bachelor’s); and Monmouth University (44/36/eight).
Leadership changes marked 2024 across New Jersey institutions. Gregory Dell’Omo of Rider University announced his retirement, effective July 31, 2025. Monsignor Joseph Reilly became Seton Hall’s 22nd president in July 2024. Hubert Benitez assumed the presidency at Saint Peter’s University, replacing Eugene Cornacchia, who later became interim president at Georgian Court University.
