Horizon Health Care Dental, founded in 1932 and based in Newark, reported enrollment of 1.37 million New Jersey residents in 2025. No other company came close on the latest NJBIZ Leads & Data list of the state’s top dental insurance providers. 

Parsippany-based Delta Dental of New Jersey has been operating since 1969. Its 639,455 enrollees put it in second place, a gap of more than 700,000 behind Horizon. 

Aetna Dental, with roots going back to 1853, reported 330,227 enrollees. MetLife, founded in 1868 and based in Whippany, followed with 270,441. Together, the top four companies covered more than 2 million New Jersey residents. 

Morristown-based Cigna Dental, established in 1982, enrolled 147,550. UnitedHealthcare Dental, operating out of East Brunswick, had 96,189. Holmdel-based Guardian Life Insurance Co., founded in 1860, reported 74,750.
