Medical Economics, a Montvale-based unit of Thomson Healthcare, today announced it has acquired Physicians World Communications Group, a medical education company. According to the company, the acquisition will increase Medical Economics” size and presence in the medical education arena, strengthen its offerings in the drug pre-launch stage of pharmaceutical development, and expand the company”s Web-based repository of continuing medical education programs and materials.Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
“The acquisition of Physicians World is an important strategic step in completing our vision of being the most complete e-information andcommunications provider in the healthcare industry,” said Curtis Allen,president and CEO of Medical Economics.
Founded in 1972, Secaucus-based Physicians World, also provides pharmacoeconomic research, market research, publication planning and managed care and elder care market programs. Medical Economics is a provider of information and communications products to physicians, institutions, and others who use, deliver, administer, market, develop, or evaluate healthcare products and services.
