Lakewood-based AvaCare Medical, an online medical equipment and supply company has been inundated with requests over the past few weeks as cases of coronavirus (COVID-19] increase worldwide.
AvaCare Medical Chief Executive Officer Steven Zeldes told NJBIZ that his company has been fielding thousands of requests for disposable facemasks, thermometers, sanitizers, alcohol, and gloves via email and phone every day.
“People are scrambling and there is a sense of fear and panic,” said Zeldes.

While the company has an ample supply of Purell sanitizers, alcohol, prep pads, soaps and gloves, facemasks are in short supply.
“We are doing everything possible to be able to fill their orders,” said Zeldes.
With two patients testing positive for the novel virus in Bergen, Zeldes said that it is imperative for everyone to be more vigilant.
“Ultimately it’s our responsibility as a medical supply and equipment company to be able to service our patients and our customers to the best of our ability. That’s what we are hyper-focused on being able to provide them with the best customer service.”
