Tanger Outlets Atlantic City is giving shoppers the chance to give their worn-out shoes a second life in exchange for discounts.

The popular shopping mall seeks sneakers of all sizes, kinds and conditions to support a new recycling program. The promotion comes in honor of Earth Month.

In exchange for donating two pairs of old shoes, shoppers will receive a special offer for 20% off top brands, such as Old Navy, Skechers and Under Armour.

Participants can drop donations off April 24 at Starbucks Plaza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to Tanger.

Tanger will recycle the collected sneakers through its partnership with Miami-based Sneaker Impact. The company works to reduce environmental impact through the reuse and recycling of old footwear into rubber material for future soft play surfaces and other usable materials.

Tanger will also hold similar collection drives at its more than three dozen open-air outlet centers across the U.S.

The company noted this initiative furthers its ongoing commitment to sustainability. Some of its programs have included installing electric vehicle charging stations and solar panels at properties, as well as pursuing LEED Gold certification for sites.

In Atlantic City, Tanger has advanced several company-wide efforts focusing on energy efficiency, waste reduction and biodiversity. The center features rooftop gardens to support local ecosystems, provides EV charging stations and utilizes LED lighting.
