Staples, Party City launch shop-in-shops nationwide

Staples and are teaming up to offer consumers a new way to buy party-planning goods.

Under a collaboration announced April 21, the party retailer will open shop-in-shops at more than 700 of the office supply seller’s locations nationwide.

According to the partners, the spaces bring together Party City’s selection of balloons, décor and with ‘ print services for personalized invitations, banners and signs.

Within New Jersey, Party City has set up shop at 45 of the chain’s 51 stores.

Customers can also buy Party City goods on Staples.com, as well as schedule balloon pickups in advance online.

The partners said they expect to expand the concept to additional Staples stores by the end of 2026. Overall, Staples has more than 900 locations across the U.S.

Party City declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in two years in 2024. After, the formerly Woodcliff Lake-headquartered company auctioned off leases for more than 700 corporate-run stores across 45 states. It then began liquidating.

Founded in East Hanover, Party City previously held distinction as the largest retailer of party goods in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. At its peak, the chain once operated close to 1,000 stores.

Party’s back on

 New Amscan PC LLC acquired Party City for a reported $20 million last year as part of a auction. Now it is focused on making it “easier, faster and more fun than ever” for customers to plan celebrations.

Based in Westchester County, N.Y., also acquired Party City’s intellectual property and wholesale operations. The entity is an affiliate of , a Santa Monica, Calif.-headquartered designer and wholesaler of gifts, home accents, costumes and collectibles.
