Metuchen is adding a special twist as part of its participation in this year’s Small Business Saturday.
In a Nov. 13 press release, Metuchen township officials introduced a theme of “Shop, Sip, and Stroll” to take Small Business Saturday to the next level.
On Nov. 25, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., officials say they will offer residents and visitors the opportunity to discover Metuchen’s unique shops and small businesses while enjoying a festive and friendly atmosphere, with local small businesses coming together to offer a wide array of unique products, from handcrafted and designed gifts to artisanal foods and more.
Some of the highlights of the Small Business Saturday Shop, Sip and Stroll will include:
All of this comes on the heels of and under the backdrop of the town’s winning of the prestigious Great American Main Street Award earlier this year, which NJBIZ has extensively covered, as well as the recent grand opening of MexiModo – further activating Metuchen’s bustling downtown area.

“We are thrilled to be recognized with the 2023 Great American Main Street Award, and we are equally excited to celebrate Small Business Saturday with ‘Shop, Sip, and Stroll,’” said Metuchen Mayor Jonathan Busch. “This event is a testament to the hard work and resilience of our small business owners, and it’s a great opportunity for our community to come together and show their support.”
Metuchen Downtown Alliance Executive Director Dawn Mackey said she is thrilled to see Small Business Saturday gaining momentum year after year in the Brainy Borough.
“Our local small businesses are the lifeblood of our community, and they bring a unique charm and character to our downtown,” said Mackey. “As we celebrate this day, let’s remember that when we support our small businesses, we’re not just buying products; we’re investing in the heart and soul of our town.”
Officials also note that festivities will continue in town throughout the holiday season with events such as a Winter Market, Downtown Caroling, Gingerbread House Contest and more.
