Newsweek delivered its America’s Best Maternity Hospitals ranking for 2025, highlighting the facilities “that excel in providing exceptional care throughout the pregnancy, delivery and postpartum period.”
Released April 16, the list names the 444 leading maternity centers in the U.S.
For 2025, 15 New Jersey health care providers landed on the list, with seven earning the highest honor, and eight others ranking in the second tier.
Last year, the Garden State had 16 total facilities on the list; six in the top ranking, and 10 others making the second tier.
To determine the findings, the publication and data firm Statista evaluated:
One of the new data sources for 2025 was the AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals Database 2022, which contains data provided by more than 6,200 hospitals and 400 health care systems.
Across the country, 182 hospitals earned a five-ribbon performance and 262 earned four ribbons.
In a statement, Englewood Hospital noted it has made Newsweek’s list four years in a row.
“This is an honor that recognizes our team’s achievement in providing the highest quality maternity care throughout pregnancy, delivery, and post-partum,” said Valerie French, senior director of nursing for maternal/child health at Englewood Hospital.
Saint Peter’s also noted it made the ranking four-straight years.
“I applaud our exceptional team of physicians, nurses, and many other professionals whose exemplary standards and compassionate care have earned us not just one, but three prestigious distinctions,” Leslie Hirsch, president and CEO of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, said in a statement, also noting St. Peter’s inclusion on the publication’s Best-in-State Hospitals and Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers findings.
Newsweek has released the maternity hospitals lists since 2020, when it partnered with The Leapfrog Group.
In December, U.S. News & World Report also released its list of Best Hospitals for Maternity Care, where 25 New Jersey facilities earned that publication’s “best” status.
