One of the state’s most notorious business and political events is back.

After a five-year hiatus, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce is once again hosting its & 84th Congressional Reception.

The event takes place Feb. 6-7. It draws the state’s top business and political leaders – who board a chartered train to Washington, D.C., networking along the way and walking between train cars (hence the name). Upon arrival in the nation’s capital, the events take place at the historic Omni Shoreham Hotel, including a dinner-and-cocktail reception honoring the state’s congressional delegation.

That reception includes remarks from Gov. Phil Murphy; Sens. Cory Booker and Andy Kim, both Democrats; and U.S. Rep. Chris Smith, R-4th District, the dean of the state’s congressional delegation.

Another feature this year is the backdrop of the 2025 gubernatorial election – with many of the major candidates from both parties scheduled to make the trek to D.C. to participate in a breakfast panel discussion Feb. 7.

The Chamber says this event offers guests unprecedented opportunities for conversation, visibility, and business networking with state business and political leaders, as well as a streamlined agenda that allows for more networking.

“The Walk features the kind of super-networking that helps businesses grow,” said Tom Bracken, president and CEO of the . “That is why we have been doing it for 84 years. It’s still New Jersey’s biggest and most unique business event.”

The Amtrak train ride begins at Penn Station in Newark – making stops at Metropark, New Brunswick, Trenton, Philadelphia and Wilmington, on its way to Washington.

More information on the event can be found here.

Before boarding

Before the train leaves Newark Penn Station, another feature of this year’s event – there will be a breakfast at the DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Penn Station right next to the train station, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. This free event is being hosted by TAPinto Newark.

Mayor Ras Baraka, a 2025 gubernatorial candidate, is scheduled to speak at the breakfast to welcome guests to Newark. More information and how to claim a free ticket can be found here.
