New Jersey’s gaming industry continued its strong run in May, with internet gaming reaching a record monthly high and total gaming revenue surpassing $627 million.
According to figures released June 16 by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, total gaming revenue for casinos, racetracks and their partners reached $627.1 million in May, up 2% from a year ago. Internet gaming revenue climbed to a record $276.3 million, up 11.9% from May 2025 and exceeding Atlantic City casino win for the ninth consecutive month.
Casino win for Atlantic City’s nine casino hotels totaled $265.6 million in May, up 0.1% from a year ago and marking the market’s strongest May performance in more than a decade.
Sports wagering revenue for casinos, racetracks and their partners totaled $85.2 million in May, down 16.9% from a year earlier, while the handle was $912.9 million. Year-to-date sports wagering revenue stood at $455.7 million, down 1%.
Year-to-date, total gaming revenue reached $2.93 billion through May, up 7.2% from the same period last year, while internet gaming revenue totaled $1.32 billion, up 14.4%. Casino win was $1.15 billion through May, up 3% from last year.
Total gross revenue taxes generated $87.4 million in May and $419.5 million year to date.
“Amid concerns of growing regional competition, Atlantic City’s casino operators turned in the best single month total gross revenue for the month of May in recent history,” said Brian Tyrell, who will become the faculty director of the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality, and Tourism (LIGHT), Stockton University School of Business, on July 1.
“New Jersey’s internet gaming win achieved its best monthly result on record in May, and it surpassed $1.3 billion sooner this year compared to all prior years,” said New Jersey Casino Control Commission Chairman James Plousis.
Plousis added that Atlantic City’s casinos remained resilient despite poor weather over Memorial Day weekend.
“Atlantic City’s in-person casino win grew marginally in May, despite poor weather over Memorial Day weekend,” said Plousis. “That growth was enough to boost the market to its highest May casino win result in over a decade. For a second consecutive year, Atlantic City’s casino win exceeded $265 million in May — a springboard for a promising summer season.”
Tyrell echoed the benchmarks hit by internet gaming and casino win.

“While total brick-and-mortar revenue was ultimately up, the stories of slots revenue ($199.4 million – up 2.4%) and table games revenue ($66.2 million – down 6.1%) were quite different. Slots revenue saw significant year-over-year gain, while table games revenue (which can be relatively variable compared to slots) was down for the month,” Tyrell explained.
“It’s too soon to say for certain, but the decline in table games revenue may be an indication of competition from Resorts World New York, which launched table gaming operations on April 28. This situation merits further monitoring to determine how much of an impact there is and whether it will be lasting — or if it is a function of the novelty of the new offerings at Resorts World — or simply the natural variability of the industry.”
Tyrrell said May was an interesting month for Atlantic City.
“Not only did it include an extra Saturday (as did May 2025), but it also included the second annual Soar & Shore Airshow presented by Visit Atlantic City (the first event occurred in July 2025),” said Tyrell. “This also may have had an impact on gaming revenues for the industry as the resort enters the start of the busier summer tourism season.”
