Throughout this National Small Business Week, the New Jersey Business Action Center (NJBAC) has been celebrating the Garden State’s small businesses.
To mark the occasion, which runs April 30-May 6 and recognizes the contributions of entrepreneurs and small business owners, NJBAC has spotlighted small businesses throughout the state on its social media platforms, while also amplifying resources among statewide agencies. And, the agency of the Department of State has also participated in small business resource webinars sponsored by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA).
In a press release, NJBAC noted that New Jersey is home to more than 950,000 small businesses, representing 99.6% of all businesses in the state, with nearly 2 million employees, or 49% of all New Jersey employees, employed by a small business.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we are proud to support their growth and success,” said Secretary of State Tahesha Way. “Through our Office of Small Business Advocacy and NJBAC, we offer a variety of resources to help businesses navigate the challenges they face, from licensing and regulatory processes to procurement and export assistance.”
“We understand that running a small business can be challenging, and we are here to help,” said NJBAC Executive Director Melanie Willoughby. “Our business advocates are available to work closely with businesses and connect them with the appropriate experts to reach their goals. We can facilitate meetings, handle follow-ups, and provide confidential assistance at no cost to the business owner.”
NJBAC says it is committed to helping New Jersey small businesses thrive and succeed and urges owners to contact their Business Helpline at 1-800-Jersey-7 or to visit its website to learn more.
