Liverpool Football Club (LFC) and Orion Innovation announced a multiyear deal Dec. 12 for the Edison-based company to become the historic club’s official digital transformation partner.
The exclusive deal allows for Liverpool to leverage Orion’s two decades of deep experience transforming the business operations of top sports leagues and teams across the globe to continue the club’s digital innovation and further connect with its global fanbase, according to the collaborators.
“We’re thrilled to join the Liverpool Football Club family and drive digital innovation for one of the world’s most popular sports teams,” said Raj Patil, Orion CEO, in a press release announcing the partnership. “We are confident that our collaboration will elevate the club’s fan experience and operations to even greater heights. This is because we pride ourselves on inspiring and accelerating digital innovation through long-term trusted partnerships with our clients.”
The company is also excited about the impact Liverpool’s global platform will have on its brand.
Orion has developed sports industry solutions via its Sports Innovation Lab, including a platform for sports operations, enhanced fan experience, gameday management and more.
“We welcome LFC to Orion’s Sports Innovation Lab and look forward to this partnership fueling innovation in the sports industry,” said Satish Kumar, global head of sports & entertainment for Orion. “As a leader in stadium technology, we are thrilled to bring our expertise to Liverpool Football Club, one of the most iconic football clubs in the world.”
Liverpool officials echoed the warm sentiments about this partnership.
“It’s fantastic to welcome Orion to the LFC partner family,” said Billy Hogan, CEO of Liverpool FC. “We see strong synergies and cultural fit between our two brands, with similar core values, ambition, and the desire to be best in class digitally.”
Drew Crisp, Liverpool FC senior vice president for digital, said that Orion will be a great long-term partner on its ever evolving and progressing digital journey.
“We’re super excited to be working together with Orion in the digital space, which is so important to us and our supporters,” said Crisp. “As a club we have an aggressive plan to continue on our digital transformation journey to elevate our fan experience.”
