Wholesome snack maker Our Home is adding another brand to its lineup.
In a May 3 press release, the Boonton-headquartered company announced it acquired Sonoma Creamery. The cheese and snack producer is based in California’s famed wine country.
In addition, Our Home gained a production facility and warehouse from Sonoma Creamery, bringing its total manufacturing footprint to eight sites nationwide.
Founded 93 years ago, Sonoma Creamery got its start as a fresh cheese producer. Then, in 2014, the brand launched a crispy, crunchy high-protein baked cheese snack. The line – which is made from all-natural ingredients and gluten-free certified – comes in several flavors, such as pepper jack, parmesan, cheddar, pepperoni pizza and habanero lime.
Our Home founder and CEO Aaron Greenwald said in a statement, “This acquisition expands Our Home into the cheese snack category, reinforcing our position as a leading independent better-for-you snacking platform.”
After noting Sonoma Creamery’s long history in the cheese business, Greenwald said, “It’s quality of products and manufacturing process delivers the best tasting and most premium cheese snack on the market.”
Our Home’s brand portfolio also includes Popchips, Food Should Taste Good, Real Food From The Ground Up and You Need This.
As part of a larger effort to accelerate growth, the six-year-old company has made several other moves in recent months, such as acquiring R.W. Garcia chips and Good Health savory snacks from Utz Brands. The $182.5 million all-cash deal also included three manufacturing facilities in North Carolina, Nevada and Pennsylvania.
In April, Our Home announced plans to purchase two Utz-owned production plants in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts for $18.5 million. Terms of the sale include a transition services agreement that calls for Our Home to co-manufacture certain Utz products for up to a year.

Our Home’s Popchips is also set to make its big screen debut in “The Garfield Movie.”
In a trailer for the upcoming movie (see below), Garfield lounges and noshes on nacho flavored Popchips. The snacks are gluten-free, non-GMO, vegan and have 50% less fat than fried chips.
The collaboration also includes a limited-edition Garfield Popchips bag. The product is available at select retail locations of Walmart, Aldi, Sprouts, Stop & Shop, Hy-Vee, Giant Eagle, Cub Foods, Festival Foods, Fresh Thyme and Redner’s.
Additionally, a sweepstakes hosted by the brand will give one lucky winner a year’s supply of Popchips and a hometown screening of “The Garfield Movie” for 150 guests. Fifty winners will receive two movie tickets and some Garfield licensed merchandise. Entries for the contest can be submitted through May 19.
“The Garfield Movie” features the voice of Chris Pratt as the Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat. The film hits theaters May 24.
“Coming in with the big cheesy energy, Popchips Nacho is the perfect snack for Garfield to munch on and feel the freedom of finishing the whole bag,” said Marshall Osborne, chief growth officer, Our Home. “The amusing movie scene wonderfully captures the chip’s satisfying flavor and crunch that you just can’t stop eating. Garfield loves it, and we know snackers everywhere will too.”
