The Seeing Eye – a Morristown-based nonprofit that matches trained guide dogs with people with blindness and low vision – received a $25,000 grant from Bausch + Lomb, the organization announced March 18.
In honor of the gift, Bausch + Lomb employees were able to name two of the puppies in the program: Zara and Zeke.
Bausch + Lomb’s grant will support the Labrador retrievers as they grow up in The Seeing Eye‘s program, which trains the pups to help their handlers experience enhanced mobility and independence.
“We are extremely grateful for this generous grant from Bausch + Lomb that will support two puppies who will go on to change the lives of people with blindness and low vision,” Seeing Eye Director of Canine Development Peggy Gibbon said in a statement. “It’s a wonderful investment in our mission, and we look forward to seeing the impact these puppies have in the future.”
Headquartered in Ontario with corporate offices in Bridgewater, Bausch + Lomb “is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the gift of sight for millions of people around the world.” However, it also has focused on humans’ best friend. In October 2022, the company launched a new brand of health care products for dogs: the Project Watson line.
Bausch + Lomb is a former subsidiary of Bausch Health Co. Inc. and launched as a publicly traded company in May 2022.
