PopUp Bagels is looking to make some dough in New Jersey.
As part of a continuing expansion effort, the award-winning concept plans to launch at least 25 outposts statewide through a partnership with franchisee Just Pop.
The debut site will open this summer in downtown Westfield by the NJ Transit train station, according to the partners.
A PopUp Bagels spokesperson declined to provide details on where and when the other locations will open.
Adam Goldberg founded PopUp Bagels six years ago. The business began as a backyard pop-up during the pandemic. It has since become a popular chain known for serving hot whole bagels in packs of three or more with rotating flavored schmears, such as spinach artichoke cream cheese, truffle butter, cinnamon butter and pickle de gallo.
PopUp Bagels has launched collaborations with brands such as Oreo, Mike’s Hot Honey and the New York Post. Additionally, it has attracted investors including Paul Rudd, Michael Strahan and Michael Phelps.
The Connecticut-based chain has doubled its footprint to roughly 30 locations since starting a franchise program in 2024. PopUp Bagels aims to have 100 stores open by the end of next year.
Just Pop partner Suhel Ahmed shared, “PopUp Bagels has created something incredibly special. It’s not just a product, it’s a moment people want to be part of. We’re thrilled to partner with the team to bring this experience to New Jersey and help scale a concept that resonates so strongly with today’s consumers.”
Ahmed’s group is involved with several other franchises, such as Dave’s Hot Chicken, Dunkin’ and Little Caesar’s Pizza.
PopUp Bagels CEO Tory Bartlett said the brand looks forward to “continuing the momentum as we begin our expansion to local communities across New Jersey.”
