In 2020, Larken Associates started work to expand two buildings at the Hillsborough Business Center, each by 9,000 square feet.
And on Jan. 27, the real estate building, development and management firm announced each reached full occupancy.
Larken said it was able to quickly fill the expanded spaces, while also signing agreements with seven tenants to hit 100% occupancy.

Hillsborough Business Center is a 550,000-square-foot, 27-building industrial/flex complex in Hillsborough situated on 100 acres one block east of Route 206, with easy accessibility to Routes 1 and 22, in addition to Interstates 78 and 287.
The construction project increased the footprints at Building 15 to 38,261 square feet and at Building 16 to 31,475 square feet.
“As a local business ourselves, we are committed to continually searching for ways to optimize our properties to meet the needs of our local business community,” said Rob Marek, executive vice president of Raider Realty, the in-house brokerage division of Larken Associates. “Through the addition of 18,000 square feet of flex/industrial space at Hillsborough Business Center, we have been able to create new homes for multiple businesses where they can continue to prosper and expand in the years to come.”
The Hillsborough Business Center isn’t the only Larken property that’s growing. In November 2021, the Somerset County-based company announced it began work on a four-building, 150,000-square-foot industrial/flex part in Flemington. The month before, the firm’s in-house construction team Core Enterprises broke ground on the final phase of its value-add strategy at Branchburg Centre, which will add a 19,000-square-foot professional and medical office building to the complex.
