SciSafe marked the opening of its new premier repository facility in East Brunswick during a Sept. 29 ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Cranbury-headquartered company is an international provider of biological and pharmaceutical storage services. SciSafe says the new facility has storage capacity for over 5 million cubic feet, which will allow it to deliver fast and accessible sample management solutions.

“This facility marks a major milestone for the incredible team that’s been with us through the years,” said Garrie Richardson, founder and CEO of SciSafe.

Richardson also noted the new facility is rooted in 15 years of customer feedback.

Key details about SciSafe’s East Brunswick facility:

• Located next to the Interstate 95 corridor, offering easy access to major highways and international airports
• Allows for same-day cold chain fulfilment
• Anticipates the next phase of customer needs, including supporting oncology, cell and gene therapy, as well as patient sample storage with the infrastructure, scale and reliability to meet leading research demands
• Has capacity for:
  • Over 500 cryogenic freezers -196 to -150 degrees C
  • More than 1,500 ultra-low temperature freezers -80 degrees C
  • Precision cold chain logistics — from transport to compliance expertise to real-time monitoring to custom shipping solutions
  • GMP warehousing capacity with more than 15,000 CRT pallet positions
  • Ample freezer and refrigeration; and more
• Offers a new warehouse management system and client portal to allow customers real-time visibility into inventory and ensure accurate retrieval

Continued growth

The ceremony featured a slew of government leaders and key stakeholders, including East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen.

Cohen said he is thrilled to see SciSafe expand in East Brunswick.

“This new facility is a tremendous investment in our community, bringing quality jobs and reinforcing our township as a destination for growth in the biotech and health care industries,” said Cohen. “We look forward to a strong partnership that benefits both residents and the broader region.”
