SciSafe marked the opening of its new premier repository facility in East Brunswick during a Sept. 29 ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Cranbury-headquartered company is an international provider of biological and pharmaceutical storage services. SciSafe says the new facility has storage capacity for over 5 million cubic feet, which will allow it to deliver fast and accessible sample management solutions.
“This facility marks a major milestone for the incredible team that’s been with us through the years,” said Garrie Richardson, founder and CEO of SciSafe.
Richardson also noted the new facility is rooted in 15 years of customer feedback.
“We started with two freezers and a dream, and today we’re supporting cutting-edge oncology research and much more, with a level of care and service that sets up apart,” said Richardson. “Our people made this possible.”

The ceremony featured a slew of government leaders and key stakeholders, including East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen.
Cohen said he is thrilled to see SciSafe expand in East Brunswick.
“This new facility is a tremendous investment in our community, bringing quality jobs and reinforcing our township as a destination for growth in the biotech and health care industries,” said Cohen. “We look forward to a strong partnership that benefits both residents and the broader region.”
In a press release, Gov. Phil Murphy said New Jersey is proud to be the home of SciSafe’s latest expansion.
“This new facility is a testament to our state’s role as a global leader in life sciences and innovation,” said Murphy. “By investing in cutting-edge infrastructure and creating high-quality jobs, SciSafe is helping to strengthen our economy while supporting groundbreaking research that will improve lives here in New Jersey and around the world.”
Wesley Mathews, president and CEO of Choose New Jersey, said that SciSafe’s continued growth in New Jersey underscores the confidence that leading companies have in the state as a place to scale and succeed.
“This new facility will support critical advances in life sciences research while creating opportunities and impact far beyond East Brunswick.”
