New Jersey is home to a range of minority-owned businesses, with 26 companies ranked by 2025 total revenue in a list published by NJBIZ.
SHI International Corp., founded in 1989 and headquartered in Somerset, leads all companies on the list with $16 billion in revenue. Thai Lee serves as the company’s lead executive and owner. SHI provides IT products and services to customers worldwide.
Goya Foods Inc. of Jersey City ranks second, with $1.5 billion in revenue. The food retail company, owned by a Hispanic proprietor, has operated since 1936. Aurobindo Pharma USA Inc. in East Windsor ranks third at $1.14 billion in revenue, with owners Biren Shah and Swami Iyer at the helm.
Of the 26 companies, half are Asian-owned or Asian Indian-owned, seven are African-American/Black-owned and six are Hispanic-owned. Meanwhile, two carry ownership from more than one group. Industries represented include IT services, construction, engineering, law, public relations, food retail, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The companies have offices across New Jersey, with locations in Somerset, Jersey City, East Windsor, Moorestown as well as Newark and others. Year of establishment ranges from 1936, for Goya Foods, to 2013, for Priamba Soft LLC.
