Six Flags Great Adventure Resort is preparing to unveil several new attractions and amenities to mark its 50th anniversary this year.
In a March 7 press release, the Jackson theme park’s operator, Six Flags Entertainment Corp., said the enhancements represent the largest investment to the park in more than two decades. The effort represent upgrades across all three resort properties, Great Adventure, Wild Safari and Hurricane Harbor.
At Great Adventure, the park will launch its 15th rollercoaster, The Flash: Vertical Velocity. The first-of-its-kind family rollercoaster is presented in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment and DC. The ride rushes forward and backward at nearly 60 miles per hour through a 180-degree twisted drop and zero-g roll.
On March 30, Wild Safari will debut a reimagined off-road experience 30 of the 350-acre park that aims to be immersive and informative. The destination will also make history with the June 14 opening of its first-class, safari glamping experience, Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa.
Meanwhile over at Hurricane Harbor, a new family-centric interactive splash play area, Splash Island, will open May 18.
Upgrades are also planned to the Sawmill Log Flume and Giant Wheel. Also, Congo Rapids will return to its original name, Roaring Rapids, according to Six Flags.

Signature beverage and food options will include premium and signature cocktails available across the park, three new locations serving Starbucks coffee and expanded gluten-free options at Primo’s Pizza.
Also new for the season: updates to the toll plaza and parking areas that allow guests speedy parking options in designated areas, as well as EV charging stations.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary, Six Flags is inviting guests to purchase a keepsake and brick that will adorn a new pathway at the park.
Six Flags Great Adventure is scheduled to open weekends only March 16 and then open daily for Spring Break (March 28 through April 7). On May 23, it will move to a daily schedule.
Single-day passes, each valid for one person only, cost $50. Membership passes start at $13 per month after an initial payment of $20.
The theme park is also hiring for a variety positions, such as lifeguards, ride operators, food service, retail and admissions. Most wages range from $15 to $20 per hour. Click here for more information.
