A new rollercoaster and luxury camping are among the enhancements being added for the 2024 season at Six Flags Great Adventure to celebrate the Jackson theme park’s 50th anniversary.

In an Aug. 30 press release, operator Six Flags Entertainment Corp. said the upgrades represent the largest investment to the park in nearly two decades.

They will include:

  • The Flash Virtual Velocity – The first-of-its-kind family rollercoaster, presented in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment and DC, will be the first “super boomerang” coaster to open in North America and the 15th rollercoaster at Great Adventure. The ride rushes forward and backward at nearly 60 miles per hour through a 180-degree twisted drop and zero G roll. Then, it changes direction and speeds off again — backward.
  • Unique accommodations – An authentic African lodging experience will be offered at a new resort and spa set within the 350-acre Six Flags Wild Safari Park, offering luxurious “glamping” accommodations, scenic vistas, spa services and VIP dining.
  • ‘Wild’ new experiences – Six Flags will also debut a refreshed drive-thru experience at Wild Safari next year as an off-road adventure that gives guests a more personalized experience.

Additionally, there will be enhancements to two classic rides, the Log Flume and Big Wheel, as well as an opportunity for park-goers to purchase an anniversary brick that will be located in a walkway near the original entrance that was used when Six Flags first opened in 1974.

In a statement, Park President Brian Bacica remarked, “We are excited to offer guests of all ages compelling new experiences that make the most popular theme park experience in the Northeast during our 50th Anniversary Celebration.”
