Sorbent Products of Somerset has been acquired by Milwaukee-based Brady Corp. Sorbent Products makes synthetic sorbent materialsSorbent Products Co. Inc. of Somerset has been acquired by Milwaukee-based Brady Corp. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sorbent Products makes what are called synthetic sorbent materials used in industrial and environmental settings to help clean, contain and control spills. Founded in 1977, the company reported sales of about $47 million last year and has 170 employees in the United States, Belgium and Hong Kong.

“We’re delighted to join the strong team at Brady,” said Mike Hobin, president of Sorbent Products. “After 30 years as a family business, we can now move to the next level in partnership with a company that has a strong global infrastructure, a diverse customer base and a wide range of MRO [maintenance, repair and overhaul] products.”

Brady manufactures safety labels and signs, printing systems and precision die-cut materials, and other goods. The company has about 9,000 employees and reported sales of $1 billion in fiscal 2006.
