Ahead of Halloween, Six Flags Entertainment Corp. unveiled a series of updates to its annual Fright Fest event.
The theme park operator announced the enhancements at Great Adventure in Jackson and Magic Mountain in Los Angeles in a June 25 press release. According to Six Flags, it represents the largest investment to the highly anticipated Halloween experience in more than three decades.
Six Flags announced partnerships with Netflix, Warner Bros., Lionsgate and Legendary as part of “Fright Fest Extreme.” The collaboration will allow for an array of intellectual property theming at the two parks.

Additionally, Great Adventure will offer an experience themed to Netflix and Legendary’s “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” from 2022.
Newark-headquartered Mars Wrigley’s Snickers brand chocolate bars also is a partner in this year’s Fright Fest. According to Six Flags, this year’s event is the biggest in its history.
The operator said it will announce a full lineup – including exclusive food and retail offerings – throughout the summer.
Chief Marketing Officer Edithann Ramey, commented, “For over 30 years, Fright Fest has been haunting the thrills-and-chills season like no other, and this year we are turning things upside down with a huge array of amazing horror franchises.”
“We take pride in offering the best experiences and are committed to innovating our parks each and every year to provide the most frightful memories for our guests. Our themed-haunted experiences, scare zones and harrowing creatures lurking around every corner are sure to deliver extreme frights and unexpected surprises,” she stated.
RWS Global will work exclusively with Six Flags and its studio partners on all creative and production aspects of these authentic adaptations, the press release said. The Long Island City, N.Y.-based company is the world’s largest full-service provider of live moments, including visitor attractions and experiences.
RWS Global Chairman and CEO Ryan Stana said the company is “excited to elevate and expand” its relationship with Six Flags.
“As their exclusive partner for spine-chilling moments, RWS Global will leverage our unique expertise in delivering premium, best-in-class spooky Halloween experiences for guests at Six Flags parks across the country,” Stana said.
The announcement also comes as Great Adventure marks its 50th anniversary. To celebrate, the theme park recently launched dozens of new rides, attractions and guest experiences. Upgrades include a first-class, safari glamping experience and a first-of-its-kind family rollercoaster, The Flash: Vertical Velocity.
