Sunrise Senior Living opened its newest community in Mountain Lakes.

The senior care center features common areas, personalized suites and functional living spaces that allow residents to maintain independence in a comfortable living situation.

According to Sunrise’s announcement, the community’s Reminiscence Neighborhoods were designed to provide comfort and security for residents living with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other forms of memory loss.

The Mountain Lakes location at 23 Bloomfield Ave. features a walking path and direct access to nine lakes offered by the Borough of Mountain Lakes. The staff also organizes outings and events for residents.

In addition to meals catered to residents’ health needs, the site also offers a Wellness Suite, featuring medical professionals and equipment.

“We look forward to bringing a vibrant, meaningful experience to residents at Sunrise of Mountain Lakes,” Germaine Dignan, executive director at Sunrise of Mountain Lakes, said in a prepared statement. “We’re honored to support Morris County families who are seeking personalized support and care for their loved ones. … We are proud of our team of highly qualified and passionate individuals who bring over 100 years of combined experience to the community and across the state of New Jersey.”

Sunrise of Mountain Lakes joins other senior centers that are rethinking senior care, such as the recently opened Parker at Somerset, which also features a neighborhood-like setting and was designed in response to the needs of seniors post-pandemic.
