No deal: NJ Transit engineers remain on strike (updated)

On Saturday, NJ Transit President and CEO Kris Kolluri gave an update on the situation, noting that the agency and engineers union would meet both weekend days instead of only Sunday.

NJ Transit’s new Multilevel III rail cars, unveiled Oct. 30, 2024, will significantly improve reliability, capacity and comfort over the 40-plus-year-old single level cars they will replace.

Rail strike halts NJ Transit as contract talks stall

No deal was reached between the agency and the engineers union before the May 16 midnight deadline. Gov. Murphy said, “My message tonight to our locomotive engineers is this: the path to a new contract will be paved at the negotiating table, not the picket line.”
