TechUnited:NJ announced Oct. 26 the official launch of BetterFutureLabs, a startup studio that will act as a co-founder to start new companies here in the Garden State.
In an email announcement Thursday, TechUnited:NJ Chief Executive Officer Aaron Price noted that he has been actively involved in the state’s tech community for 12 years – and has wondered why more companies are not starting here, despite the many assets New Jersey possesses.
“BetterFutureLabs will work with industry partners, identify areas of opportunity and build the companies to solve them,” said Price.
Price also announced that lifelong entrepreneur and early-stage investor Jason Glickman is a co-founder of BetterFutureLabs, and will serve as managing director.
Verizon is serving as a founding corporate partner, along with university partners such as Princeton University, New Jersey City University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rowan University and Rutgers University.
Price said that more announcements on partners and personnel are on the way.
Among the initial aims and objectives that Price laid out are: leaning on the product advisory board for rapid feedback on ideas and prototypes; working with its board of entrepreneurs to discuss ideas and identify a potential CEO; and providing seed capital to give the startups runway.
“In short, BetterFutureLabs acts as the institutional cofounder to start new businesses, all along working with partners to iterate faster and smarter as we seek product <> [sic] market fit,” Price stressed. “Our focus is on building a better future, starting with the Future of Work, given NJ’s strong concentration of corporations and talent.”
