In recognition of Veterans Day, The Cannabist Co. is running a point-of-sale donation campaign in partnership with Weed for Warriors Project. The nonprofit advocates for veterans‘ rights to access medical marijuana as an alternative to psychiatric drugs.
Through Nov. 11, the New York-based multistate operator will give customers the option to round up purchases to the nearest dollar or donate in $1, $5 or $10 increments. All proceeds will go directly to Weed for Warriors, The Cannabist Co. said.
The initiative spans The Cannabist Co.’s six dozen dispensaries across 12 U.S. markets.
Within New Jersey, the company has stores in Deptford (1692 Clements Bridge Road) and Vineland (1062 N Delsea Drive). It rebranded last year from Columbia Care.
Keri Stan is district manager, Retail, at The Cannabist Co. and chair of the company’s veterans affinity group. “We believe in giving back to those who have given so much for our country,” Stan said in a statement to NJBIZ. “This donation campaign is just one example of the many ways that we can support our veteran communities and advocate for a cause that aligns with our team’s values.”
“Weed for Warriors is dedicated to providing veterans with access to cannabis as a safe and holistic therapeutic option while working to end the stigma. We’re honored to partner with an organization that advocates so powerfully for veterans,” Stan said.
Founded in 2014, Weed for Warriors Project aims to allow veterans the freedom to use medical marijuana as a recognized medical alternative without any discrimination or unjust actions against the individual.
As part of its efforts to raise awareness of holistic rehabilitation for veterans, the California-headquartered organization also gets involved with community-based projects, proactive care advocacy, cannabis education and compassion.
