A combined $620,700 – that’s how much money The Provident Bank Foundation said Aug. 17 it was able to pay forward to nonprofits in its local operating areas after its major grant cycle closed this week.
Altogether, 43 organizations in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania will receive major grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.
According to the foundation, the flexible funding goes to support programs, projects and other initiatives that address one or more of its funding priority areas: Community Enrichment, Education and Health, and Youth and Families.
The Provident Bank Foundation awarded $450,000 in its second grant cycle in 2021. Earlier that year, $400,000 was announced for 2021’s first cycle of giving.
The bulk of the awards went to groups in New Jersey, where Jersey City-based Provident Bank operates 92 of its 99 offices. In Pennsylvania, five organizations located in Northampton, Lehigh and Bucks counties received awards. In New York, St. Mary’s Foundation for Children in Queens County was the sole statewide recipient.
“A number of organizations focused on creating meaningful and enriching change within their communities have received support from the Foundation’s Major Grants,” Samantha Plotino, executive director of The Provident Bank Foundation and a recently announced 2022 NJBIZ Forty Under 40 Award winner, said in a statement. “We look forward to seeing the impact that this next cycle of grants has on recipients, the communities they serve, and the nonprofit landscape.”
