The state Department of Treasury announced the hiring of Brad Johnson April 12 as head of private credit in its Division of Investment.

Johnson, who started in the new position March 27, most recently worked at First Republic Bank, focusing on alternative investments. Prior to that, he worked with PivotalPath, Man Investments and Oppenheimer Funds.

Treasury says Johnson brings many years of experience to this position, where he will lead efforts to invest the target allocation of the state’s pension fund within the asset class, currently 8% of total assets.

In a press release, Chief Investment Office and Director of the Division of Investment Shoaib Khan said that they are pleased to welcome Johnson to the team.

“His depth of knowledge and experience in alternative investments makes him an outstanding addition to our team,” said Khan.
