Wawa marks April 16 birthday with free coffee

Wawa will mark its 62nd birthday with and charitable outreach.

The annual celebration takes place April 16. As part this year’s Wawa Day, the Pennsylvania-based gas and convenience chain will offer free, any-size hot coffee to rewards members all day.

Additionally, and the Wawa Foundation will donate $250,000 in gift cards to charity partners, including the American Red Cross, Blood Cancer United, Breakthrough T1D, Children’s Miracle Network, Feeding America Food Banks, Special Olympics and USO.

This year marks $200 million in giving since the brand’s 2014 launch of . The event serves to honor customers, associates and community partners.

The upcoming Wawa Day will include a special event where Wawa opened its first store in 1964. Festivities at the Ridley Township location in Pennsylvania will include the unveiling of a Wawa-themed bell. The display is part of America250PA’s Bells Across Pennsylvania project.

‘Have a cup on us’

Wawa President Brian Schaller commented, “Each year, Wawa Day presents a special opportunity to express our gratitude to the people and partners across our flock and reaffirm our commitment to fulfilling lives, every day.”

On April 16, we celebrate and thank our associates and community partners and invite our Wawa Rewards Members to have a cup of coffee on us.”

New Jersey is home to nearly 300 of the brand’s more than 1,200 locations in the U.S.

Wawa has a goal to add 1,800 stores nationwide by 2030. The fan-favorite chain has opened dozens of new locations this year. The ongoing expansion effort has also seen Wawa enter new markets such as Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
