Somerset company announces additional executive moves

Catalent began the month with a new CEO: company veteran Alessandro Maselli, whose appointment was announced at the start of the year. Also new at the Somerset-based company is its operating structure.
On July 5, Catalent announced a shift from four reporting segments to two – each representing about half of total revenue – and additional appointments to its leadership team.
The changes, effective July 1, will create one segment focused on biologics and another targeting pharmaceuticals and consumer health. The move comes in response to changing customer and industry trends, according to Maselli, and sets the company up for its next level of expansion and achievement.

“Our industry continues to demonstrate steady growth, and this new structure will allow us to be more agile in meeting and anticipating customer needs and expectations,” Maselli said in a statement. “Among other benefits, it will create commercial synergies for our customers, as they will be better able to access the full range of Catalent services applicable to their molecules.”
Having led the company’s Softgel & Oral Technologies segment since 2013, Aris Gennadios was named group president for the newly formed Pharma and Consumer Health segment.
That group consolidates the division Gennadios was leading with the Oral & Specialty Delivery and Clinical Supply Services segments. In a statement, he said the combination would offer customers “more integrated solutions, streamlined service, and simplified delivery of the solutions they need to accelerate their path to patients and consumers.”
Offerings from the three individual segments will be encompassed in the Pharma and Consumer Health department. That includes market-leading softgels, Zydis fast-dissolve technologies, gummy dosage forms, clinical development and trial supply services, and global pharma manufacturing platforms. Within the segment, dedicated teams will focus on pharmaceutical, consumer health, and clinical development and supply solutions.
According to Catalent, the company’s other reporting pillar, the Biologics segment, continues without any change.
In addition to the Gennadios transition three additional leadership updates were announced by Catalent:
Jonathan Arnold, who has served as president, Oral & Specialty Delivery since 2017 is now senior vice president, chief commercial officer and head of transformation. In the new role he will work to ensure a best-in-class customer experience, according to Catalent, while also collaborating with other company leaders to optimize its growing portfolio.
Steve Fasman was named executive vice president and chief administrative officer; since 2014, he has served as senior vice president and general counsel for the company. In the newly created post, Fasman will oversee certain administrative functions for Catalent, including legal & compliance, information technology, engineering, procurement, governmental affairs, and various ESG-related departments.
Finally, Karen Flynn will retire from her role as senior vice president and chief commercial officer, the company announced. In a statement, Maselli said she’s played a critical role on the company’s Executive Leadership Team since she joined in 2020. “I am immensely grateful for her leadership, innovative thinking, and steadfast commitment to the company,” he added.
