According to Secaucus-based Quest Diagnostics, the company serves 1 in 3 adult Americans and half of U.S. physicians and hospitals each year. In October, the diagnostics and laboratory testing provider reported third quarter revenues of $2.82 billion, up 13.1% from 2024. The good news prompted the company to raise its full year 2025 guidance, according to chairman, CEO and President Jim Davis.

“We delivered another quarter of robust top- and bottom-line growth, underscoring strong demand for our clinical solutions and diligent execution of our strategy,” Davis commented along with Quest Diagnostics’ Q3 results. “Revenues grew 13.1%, including 6.8% organic growth, driven by broad-based adoption of our clinical innovations, contributions from acquisitions, and growth in our consumer channel as we build our presence as the preferred lab engine inside top health and wellness brands.”

The company also announced an agreement with Corewell Health this year. And Quest is deepening its local relationships. It recently opened its flagship lab in Clifton to help educate students at Hackensack Meridian Health’s School of Medicine.

Samsung Electronics America Inc. just recommitted to New Jersey in a big way.  This fall, the electronics giant officially celebrated the opening of its new, state-of-the-art offices in Englewood Cliffs. The U.S. subsidiary of South Korea-based Samsung Electronics, the company says 76% of U.S. households own at least one of its products. It also boasts No. 1 rankings in global market share for TVs, smartphones, gaming monitors and memory.

Beyond operating across mobile communications, consumer electronics, home appliances and business solutions, Samsung is also a major employer in the U.S. According to the company, its U.S. facilities generate $40 billion and create more than 175,000 jobs. Over 45 years here, the U.S. team has expanded to more than 20,000 members.

“It is our people and the places where we do business, they make our success possible,” Samsung Electronics NA President and CEO Yoonie Joung said at the business’s ribbon-cutting ceremony in Englewood Cliffs.

Selective Insurance Group Inc. plans to transition its headquarters to Short Hills beginning next year.  The move from Branchville – where it’s resided since 1926 – will bring the company to a more than 122,000-square-foot space. In announcing the change, Selective Insurance said the new office “offers convenient access from across the Northeast Corridor states and a modern, collaborative workspace designed to support flexible workstyle and employee well-being.”

Selective is a holding company for 10 property and casualty insurance companies that boast an “A+” rating from AM Best. The insurance companies offer standard insurance for commercial and personal risks and specialty insurance for commercial risks through independent agents. It breaks down the business mix as: 81% Standard Commercial Lines in 35 states; 9% Standard Personal Lines in 15 states; and 10% Excess & Surplus Lines in 50 states. Selective is also the fourth largest “Write Your Own” insurance carrier in the National Flood Insurance Program

With a workforce of more than 2,000, the company ranked 52nd on Forbes’ list of the New Jersey’s best employers for 2025.

Solstice Advanced Materials debuted in October after completing its spinoff from Honeywell. Now, the sustainability focused, specialty chemicals and material pure play has its base in Morris Plains.

Solstice serves sectors including HVAC/R, semiconductor manufacturing, data center thermal management, nuclear energy, defense and life sciences. It boasts a customer count that tops 3,000 across 120 countries and territories. As part of Honeywell, the unit generated net sales of $3.8 billion. The new company launched with nearly 4,000 employees, 24 manufacturing sites, and four research & development centers.

“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Solstice,” said David Sewell, president and CEO of Solstice Advanced Materials, when it debuted. “Our independence positions us to capitalize on powerful secular trends shaping our industry – from regulatory-driven transitions in cooling and building solutions to the rapid proliferation of AI and advanced computing.”

Solstice recently broke ground on a $200 million facility to expand and modernize its electronic materials operations in Spokane Valley, Wash. The company says it expects the work to double capacity, reduce lead times by 25%, enable circular production for semiconductor materials and strengthen its U.S. manufacturing footprint.

Princeton-based SOSV is a global multi-stage venture capital firm guided by a mission it describes as funding visionary deep tech founders that are intent on making a profound impact on human and planetary health. Managing General Partner Sean O’Sullivan founded SOSV in 1995. As of April 2024, it had $1.5 billion in assets under management. Its most recent core fund is the $306 million SOSV V. Closed in April 2024, SOSV V marked the firm’s largest fund to date.

SOSV says it covers nearly 1,000 startups operating in 59 countries, with programs including the hard tech-focused HAX in Newark. Opened in 2024, that 35,000-square-foot flagship office launched in partnership with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority.

In June, HAX announced another collaboration with NJEDA, as well as Princeton University. With its base set for the Princeton area, the HAX Plasma Forge will offer a space to commercialize plasma technology into real-world products. Standing on combined backing of $49 million, SOSV highlighted examples of developments that could come out of the space, such as carbon-free fusion energy, next-generation AI chips, rocket propulsion and more.

Spencer Spirit Holdings

As the parent company of Spirit Halloween, Egg Harbor Township-based Spencer Spirit Holdings oversees the seasonal launch of more than 1,500 pop-up stores nationwide filled with costumes, props, accessories and decorations. It also continues to operate novelty retailer Spencer’s at more than 630 stores across North America.  And, after debuting a Christmas-themed retail experience in 2024, the company quadrupled its footprint of Spirit Christmas sites with 30 spots this year.

Giving back remains important to Spencer Spirit – especially in its home state. The company recently made another donation to the Stockton University Foundation, bringing the total amount contributed to the school over the past four years to $1 million. Spencer Spirit CEO Steven Silverstein noted that about 18% of employees in the company’s corporate office are Stockton alumni.

And, as part of its long-running Spirit of Children fundraising campaign, the company once again hosted Halloween parties for dozens of pediatric hospitals across the U.S., including Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital, Virtua Voorhees Hospital and K. An Englewood-based biotech, SpotitEarly is focused on using trained canines and artificial intelligence as an early cancer detection tool. Through its breath-based, at-home test, SpotitEarly aims to improve access to screening, enhance early detection rates and boost survival outcomes for multiple types of cancer. According to the company, its kit relies on the olfactory abilities of trained dogs combined with a proprietary AI platform to detect cancer odor signatures in a patient’s volatile organic compounds.

After raising $20.3 million to strengthen its technology and scale, the company entered the U.S. market in May. Pending regulatory approval, SpotitEarly plans to make its at-home test commercially available next year for the four most common types of cancer: breast, lung, colorectal and prostate. Ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the company announced a research collaboration with Hackensack Meridian John Theurer Cancer Center to explore how this promising new method could significantly impact how breast cancer is screened.

SpotitEarly CEO Shlomi Madar noted that his company shares the same mission as the state’s largest and most integrated network – transforming the health care system “from a reactive to a proactive one” and that the partnership “marks a pivotal first step in making our technology available in the U.S.”

A longstanding New Jersey-based business, Subaru of America has called the state home since 1969. Headquartered adjacent to The Campbell’s Co. headquarters in Camden, SOA markets and distributes Subaru vehicles, parts and accessories through a network of about 640 retailers across the U.S.
